Christmas Gift Guide: 2018 Edition!

Following on from my previous post, here is something to spark some inspiration, but much more vintage inspired! I am hoping that I have posted this for you just in time for any last minute Christmas shopping; I thought it would be a good opportunity to share with you a few of the brands and items I have fallen in love with, over the year of 2018. You may remember that I did a similar post last year, when I first started this blog. When I was reading back on last years article, it made me realise how far I have come with my vintage style and what I have discovered in the last year! I am so grateful for this blog and those who follow and support me as it has encouraged me to grow my interest and passion, which is what this blog was intended for, as well as to encourage you!

Subscriptions Services

If you have been following my blog for a while, you will have noticed that I love testing out mystery boxes and monthly subscriptions – I have tried and reviewed a fair few so far! I just love receiving a pleasant surprise each month, like a little gift to myself – I love it so much that I have already gifted these subscriptions to family members and friends! Vintage Life magazine - FrebruaryThey have enjoyed it too, so of course I had to include them in this post. Check out a Birchbox review here & the Vintage Boxed service here for more information on those subscriptions.
Another one to mention is a gift I received for Christmas last year – a six month subscription to Vintage Life magazine. I believe I wrote about this on the blog as well! It was fantastic reading material for any vintage lover and covered anything from history, ‘dig for victory’ garden ideas, fashion, hair and events. There are other vintage lifestyle magazines out there as well, although I haven’t read any others myself, so I can only personally recommend the Vintage Life magazine.

Besame Cosmetics

I had always heard good things from Besame Cosmetics, but after visiting the store in Burbank, CA earlier this year, I found it was really worth all the hype! The detail in the products and colour palettes, as well as their fragrances, it is so close to authentic vintage. I feel like Besame are really special, meaning it would make the perfect gift. The official Besame website has had a revamp in design and appears it would be easier to order from to the UK than in the past. The official site has a variety of bundles and gift sets to chose from, where as the UK stockist, Voodoo Vixen, has various lipsticks, powders and mascaras. The packaging is so unique and special, it would be the perfect gift for any vintage or make up lover!

Bow and Crossbones

This is a brand I most recently purchased from, although I have had my eye on their products for a while! Bow & Crossbones are a vintage reproduction accessory brand, mainly featuring jewellery and hair items. I think I first heard of them through various pin up models from Instagram and I have been scrolling their website ever since. I was always so indecisive and overwhelmed from the choices offered, but there was one style of earring I adored – the 50’s style Lucite confetti hoop earrings. The shape and style are just so iconic, and so I was over the moon when I saw the website had a flash sale and this style was available! I knew they would go perfectly with the Christmas party outfit I have in mind. They are really comfortable to wear and not heavy at all.
I actually managed to get a couple of gifts for other people on my list at the same time – they have so much to offer on their website, do go and check it out!

Alternate Normality

You may have seen my Alternate Normality products on my Instagram, which again I found through the vintage models on the platform. Alternate Normality mainly produce the most stunning hair flowers and hair pieces, as well as some other accessories. I have a couple of hair flowers from them, which I purchased in the summer and they are so beautifully detailed. Pictured below are the Marsha Duo and the Orchid Waterfall hair flower. Any vintage styled lady would be lucky to receive one as a gift and they are reasonably priced too!

I hope this has sparked some inspiration, perhaps for your own Christmas list or for someone in your life! I love all the products and brands I have mentioned and I can’t imagine anyone not being pleased with receiving any of these as gifts. What is on your Christmas list this year? What items have you fallen in love with in the past 12 months?

PS. I apologise for the amount of cat hair visible in these photos… the life of a white cat owner!
