Playing Pinup at Alt Studios!

Pin up of the beach at Alt Studios

I have always found that the transformation into vintage and pin up to be uplifting and satisfying. Glamming up and feeling your best self does wonders for your mental wellbeing. I have recently found my self stuck in a rut. With long hours at work and trying to fit everything else in between, my blog has become a bit of a struggle to write; I have hardly any time to dress up!
So, I was very happy that my friend Jess had won a photo shoot competition on Instagram – a pin up makeover at Alt Studios!

Alt Studios

We ventured up to Manchester just over a week ago. After a very peaceful nights sleep in our hotel (both of us had night duties before we travelled!), we were more than ready to be transformed. I was so looking forward to having someone else transform me in to pin up, instead of my arms aching from doing my hair for an hour!

We have had minimal photoshoot experience, after our one and only ever shoot with Claire Seville and Cherry Dollface in May this year. But we had enjoyed that afternoon so much, we were more excited than nervous. I had followed Alt Studios on Instagram for a while, I loved their variety of pin up, rockabilly and film noir images. The image style was very different to our previous shoot – this was proper cheesecake pin up!

The Photoshoot

Simon greeted us at the studio and introduced us to the hair and make up artist, Paige. We instantly got to chatting about the styles we liked. They were so easy to talk to, not to mention being very skilled at their crafts! Jess loves anything western, whereas I love anything nautical (of course!). We had brought an outfit option each, but there was a good sized wardrobe at the studio to choose from. The hair and make up was perfect for the occasion (the images are the proof!). Paige does a killer eyeliner…

Simon was great at directing and knowing what poses are flattering. Four outfit changes and many photos later and we were set to leave – Simon explained he would have the images quickly edited for us to choose in a couple of hours. So we went out for dinner and returned to a pin up slide show each! It was such a nice surprise as we weren’t expecting to see the images so soon!

And so a week and a bit later, here I am ready to share some of the images with you! I have a fair few and will be posting them on my Instagram over time. Jess and I are both so pleased with how they turned out. Simon and his team are very talented, I highly recommend for a vintage makeover! Which photo is your favourite?
