Getting personal – me, myself and I!

This past week has been rather hectic for me and my only day off was fitting in lots of things and rushing to get ready for an evening out, so… I had a very un-vintage and quite unglamorous week. So instead I thought I would use the opportunity for those who don’t know me personally, to get to know me a bit better!

Full name: Laura Elizabeth Newton
Age: 24
Zodiac sign: Libra
Hair colour: Auburn/brown
Favourite colour: purple, pretty much any shade, my all time favourite! Currently, I am loving burgundy and wine colours.

Favourite food:
If I’m being a foodie, I love truffle – in risotto, truffle salt on chips… but if I’m being boring, I am a sucker for chocolate!

Favourite drink:
Nothing quite like a good ol’ cup of tea! But if we are talking alcoholic, my ‘usual’ is a spiced rum and coke, or a gin and tonic is my new favourite tipple!

Relationship status:Engaged, soon to be married… 26th May! Not long to go, then honeymooning in Las Vegas and Los Angeles! I’m looking forward to finding all the American vintage style shops I love so much but struggle to buy here in the UK! Ross and I have been together 5 years, after meeting him when I was a waitress at a pub (he was the chef, classic kitchen love story!). Been engaged for 3 years, laid back planning… up until now anyway!

I have the standard ear piercings, then one ‘second’, I love that its not symmetrical! To a few peoples surprise, I’m sure, I have two tattoos. My first is an anchor with a moon and IMG_3440nautical star either side –
this is for my dad who was in the Merchant Navy and was travelling away for most of my life. Whenever we wrote to each other we would sign off ‘love you to the moon and back’ (from the childrens book ‘Guess How Much I Love You’). My second is a flower piece – I love daffodils, they were also my late grandads favourites, especially tet-e-tetes. I really wanted this piece as daffodils are so close to my heart because of losing grandad, I added in forget-me-nots too. I love them both and I love how much my tattoos mean to me!

Where do you live: I live in the county of Suffolk, in England.

Job: I am very lucky to have my dream job, a veterinary nurse, which I wanted to do since I was about 10 years old! I’ve been working for about 6 years in practice but only qualified a year ago. I love my job!

Siblings: My little sister Clare. She is a teenager and turning into a ‘mini-me’, wearing band t-shirts and listening to Panic! at the Disco – I was doing that when I was her age!IMG_3845.JPG

I am known as a crazy cat lady, I know I have been for a long time! My mum has 4 cats, one of which I hand reared (Millie), but I have 2 cats of my own in my home – Buddy and Bonnie. Buddy was a stray from work who had been wandering the streets and was very poorly with cat flu. He had some treatment and was much better. He is a pure white cat, but when we first got him, he was yellow and brown in places! He is certainly much cleaner now, especially after bathing him at work with my colleagues!

Bonnie is a recent addition, she was a kitten who was found alone on a lane nearby and so was taken to work where I met her. She looked so similar to Millie and she was so sweet! She didn’t like Buddy much, but now they are inseparable!

Favourite restaurant: Being with a chef, we are of course both foodies. If we were just going out for a weekend dinner, you would find us at Wagamama or Byron Burgers. Our most favourite place to go is somewhere with Michelin stars! Anniversaries and birthdays, we try to save up to visit new and different places, but the one we keep returning to is the Hand & Flowers in Marlow, owned by Chef Tom Kerridge. A two Michelin starred pub, yum!

Music: I listen to all sorts, but my heart belongs to punk rock and punk pop. I love Bowling For Soup, Patent Pending (a small band but one of my favourites!) and Yellowcard to name a few. Both myself and Ross love the band Daughtry. In fact it is one of the things we bonded over when we first met! Ross proposed at a VIP meet and greet back in 2014, they were just as surprised as me! Our first dance will be a Daughtry song, of course!

Favourite vintage blogger: I adore Miss Victory Violet, I follow her blog as well as on YouTube and on social media, she is so classy and writes so well about lots of vintage products and subjects. There are lots of wonderful bloggers I follow, which are mentioned in the foot of my posts!

Favourite vintage shop:My local shop, Pocketwatch and Petticoats, stocks lots of brands and a wide variety of items, I love them! I am a reproduction girl, I have a couple of true vintage items, but I don’t want to ruin them! There are lots of online shops I want to try, but if you’ve already read my blog, you’ll know I love Collectif Clothing.

I would love to see your ‘get to know me’ tags/posts! Feel free to respond! Also, are there any questions you would like to ask me? Comment below!
